Lim Chong Han

Hello and welcome to my page. I am a test and product engineer working at National Semiconductor Malacca. I graduated with a BEng (Hon) Electrical and Electronic, from Leicester University, England in 1996. I joined National just a week after returning from England and have since then held various engineering roles. I started out as a yield engineer and moved to System Product Group in 1997.

As a System Product engineer, life is interesting. Our products are highly integrated and can be rather sophisticated. Troubleshooting can be a great challenge that definitely promises satisfaction when everything is resolved. Some of the products that I work on are integrated silicon temperature sensors used in computers and flat-screen televisions, and also analogue-to-digital converters used in a variety of commercial equipment.

I have a sister who stays in Kuala Lumpur and my parents are in Penang. I was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and spent my whole childhood there. I only moved to Peninsular Malaysia after completing my secondary education in La Salle Kota Kinabalu. My parents are Penangites. My dad's previous company transferred him to service a branch in Kota Kinabalu in the early 70's, and that's the reason why I am by right, a Sabahan.

Besides loving my job - I am a workaholic, I love music. I started learning piano when I was in primary one and went for electronic keyboard when I was in secondary school. My friends and I used to make music together when we were in college. When I was in England, I picked up a new hobby, and that is ballroom dancing. I picked up quite a few dances but am still far from perfection. I would love to go for lessons again someday.

Since I started work, life centres around office activities most of the time. However, I am glad to have joined the Toastmasters Club. I joined the club in 1996 and for two years, I have gained lots of experience in leadership and communication. I have also made quite a few friends not only from within the company, but also from various other clubs. I now serve as the president of my club and I look forward to an interesting year.

My other involvement in social activities is the Leicester University Graduates Association. Since I was still in Leicester, a few of us had already formed a pro-tem committee to start an alumni association in Malaysia. After almost three years, we are finally through with the proposal and by the end of 1998, this organisation will be officially registered. The inaugural AGM is expected to be held sometime in November.
